Turtle Bay Lodge Guest House and B&B is located in the beautiful town of St Lucia on the Zululand coast of KwaZulu-Natal. St Lucia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for good reason – the area boasts one of the largest estuaries in the world and is home to an incredible range of wildlife species, including hippos, crocodiles and a variety of bird and marine life. There are also a number of gorgeous beaches, coastal forests, rolling grasslands and game parks to explore in the region.

Turtle Bay Lodge Guest House and B&B is situated in a quiet suburb of St Lucia, just one kilometre from the estuary, and is within walking distance from the town centre. In the town itself, there are a variety of restaurants and shops for your convenience. We provide complimentary welcome drinks on arrival, so that you can ease into the holiday mood. Your hosts, Jan and Fiona, will provide you with information and maps for the area and show you around the beautiful grounds. Located in a luscious tropical garden, our guesthouse has a swimming pool and a cocktail bar for our guests to enjoy after a day of exploring.

Our Honeymoon suite and Luxury rooms have king size beds and the double rooms have queen size beds, all come with en-suite bathrooms, Wi-Fi, secure parking, laundry services and airconditioning. A full English breakfast is served every morning and includes a sumptuous selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals, bacon, eggs, toasts, jams, juices, tea and coffee. DSTV is available in the lounge and bar area.

Our staff is also happy to help with any excursion bookings you may be interested in – there are a diverse range of activities available in the area, from horse riding and kayak trips, to boat cruises and bush and beach safaris. Please don’t hesitate to speak to one of our staff members if you need help arranging an activity.

For those interested in deep-sea fishing, we offer a charter service on a 24ft sports fishing boat. Our boat is equipped with a comfortable cabin, microwave and toilet facilities.

urtle Bay Lodge Guest House and B&B is run by Jan and Fiona, who are both passionate anglers and have earned their provincial colours for fishing. Jan and Fiona have released 36 and 35 billfish respectively in local and international waters. Together they have tagged and released 42 sailfish in Kenya, 8 sailfish in Guatemala, and 4 bluefin tuna ranging from 700 to 800 pounds in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Locally, the pair has caught 24 billfish from their own boat. In 2011, they won the prestigious Billfish 15000 competition in Sodwana when they caught a total of 7 billfish in a week.

With a passion for fishing, it was a natural progression for the couple to leave their home in the inland, and move to the coast to live their dream. In July 2016 Jan and Fiona moved from Pretoria to settle in St Lucia. Here, they have fallen in love with the tropical climate and the beautiful surroundings, and are passionate about sharing their home with guests from all around the world. They are happy to offer any travel advice you may need, and can help arrange fishing trips, as well as a variety of other activities in and around St Lucia so that you can fully explore the unique and diverse ecosystem of the area.

Jan and Fiona will make every effort to make your stay as relaxing as possible. They pride themselves on the quality and comfort of their guesthouse, and want their guests to enjoy their home as much as they do. The couple has travelled extensively, and know first-hand what travellers need for a pleasant and memorable stay. All you need to do is relax, have a dip in the pool, taste a homemade cocktail, and enjoy the tropical setting!

Jan is the son of Dutch immigrants, so he is able to speak Dutch as well as English and Afrikaans.
