The Roxa House is located in a green valley in north western Spain, only 12kms. from the seaside and 1h. drive to Santiago de Compostela. It’s a unique place to enjoy tranquility, nature and to discover the authentic Galicia, a lush region with a mild climate, offering spectacular sceneries, sandy beaches, good sailing and surf, great hiking, historic gardens, golf, and a famed gastronomy mainly based in seafood, meats and the best white wines of the country.

On the upper floor of the Roxa House there are two single bedrooms and one double, a bathroom and a kitchen with dining room all of it in 70sqm. Only this top floor is offered for rent, having a separate exit outside staircase, as the ground floor is not restored . The house overlooks the valley and is very sunny, finishes and decoration are very simple and nice for a vacation combining the tranquility of the countryside, hiking trails and beaches.

Sharing the site and garden, next to the Roxa House is the Palleira, a beautiful Old Barn recently renovated also offered through airbnb as an independent holiday home to accommodate 4.

What makes the Roxa House unique is its setting. The property comprises 15 acres of land (6 Has), a water mill, a small river island planted with hydrangeas, woods, paths and meadows. It is not uncommon to find animals of the forests and the vegetation is typically Atlantic, ferns and mosses in the shady banks of the river, meadow wildflowers, mushrooms in season and diversity of trees in the forests.

In the immediate surroundings there is a garden, still in process of been planted but very nice. It’s a great place for picnics and cookouts. There are tables and benches for outdoor dining. In all it’s a great place to enjoy nature and tranquility.

Tips and activities
The House and the Old Barn are located in the North of Galicia, somehow less touristic than the South, at a short 7 miles (12 kms.) from the spectacular scenery of the coast and beaches and not far away from medieval villages like Pontedeume or Betanzos, in both of which one can find markets, restaurants and shopping.

Galicia is not really large: the A9 motorway that runs from NE to SW allows easy touring to its monumental-towns. Pontevedra or Santiago de Compostela have both beautiful old quarters and an amazing gastronomic offer together with the best white wines in the country. Also La Coruña makes for another lovely excursion to visit the old town, the central market, the harbour or the Aquarium.

Besides, the coast offers sandy beaches and old fishing villages that are worth a visit. There are also historic gardens and spas in the area. In terms of sports, one can find the best sailing, golf and hiking routes like the one of the Natural Park Fragas do Eume, an ancient forest along the river Eume.

In all, Galicia is a wonderful region to enjoy a memorable holiday, with a temperate weather, sunny and warm in summer and variable the rest of the year, that never disappoints visitors.
