Shangrila – The Cottage

he Cottage is a 2 bedroom house, screened by beautiful indigenous trees from the Beach House for privacy. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed, and the second bedroom has 2 single beds, The bathroom is shared.

The Cottage has been professionally decorated, and has a lovely open plan living area, and a spacious verandah, with outside table and chairs.

There is a Weber barbecue, private garden, and parking.

Access to the beach is through the magnificent indigenous garden, down the path to the beach. There is swimming, rock pools for children, fishing, snorkelling, surfing, beach walks, cycling, and hiking here in Bazley. The indigenous garden has been professionally landscaped by Elsa Pooley and is spectacular. It is filled with birds, butterflies, and other wild life, such as bushbuck and ipmiti buck.

The views from the verandah are spectacular, and in winter there are hundreds of whales migrating from the Antarctic, where they spend the summer. We also have the famous Sardine Run in May, June and July, when the sardines move north in shoals of millions of fish, pursued by thousands of dolphins, fish and birds.

Bazley is a tiny village on the KZN south coast, close to the famous Aliwal Shoal. This is one of the top 10 dive sites in the world, and well known by scuba divers.

Close to Bazley are 2 famous golf courses – Umdoni and Selbourn. Umdoni is set in a coastal forest and grassland, uniquely beautiful, and goes right down to the beach, where the Club House is situated. Selbourn is in a coastal forest, with inland views. Umdoni also offers hikes, cycling trails, and walks in the pristine forest.
